Along with two friends. I co-founded the CHS Architecture & Engineering Club, where I serve as the founding president. In this role, I am responsible for managing the club's finances, ensuring its non-profit status, overseeing all projects, leading the leadership team, and maintaining strong connections with the school administration.
We accessed a multitude of methods to gain the benefits of becoming a non-profit. I had started researching methods I came across fiscal sponsors. Once I had decided that a fiscal sponsor was the ideal method I started researching non-profits that could be possible options for fiscal sponsors. Then I came across HackClub, it seemed like the perfect option as it allowed us to store money with their HackClub Bank option, as storing money with the school wasn't a viable option due to the complexity of depositing and withdrawing money.
Sadly, Columbia High School lacks engineering and architectural classes beyond calculus. We had one teacher teaching architecture, CAD, and fundamentals of engineering (who was our advisor for year one). Still, with his abrupt retirement, we realized we couldn't leave this school without an opportunity for students in engineering. We decided that if the school wouldn't create a space to allow other kids to explore engineering; I did.
