Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. Teams advance the disc by passing to teammates, working to catch it in the opposing team’s end zone to score points. The game emphasizes speed, strategy, and precise teamwork, while being self-officiated under the “Spirit of the Game,” which encourages honesty, communication, and sportsmanship. Ultimate challenges players’ endurance, agility, and decision-making, making it both a physically demanding and highly collaborative sport that fosters leadership, teamwork, and respect on and off the field.
I began playing ultimate frisbee in 8th grade at Columbia High School, the birthplace of Ultimate Frisbee, which gave the sport a unique sense of tradition and pride from the very start. What began as a new challenge quickly became a passion as I developed my skills, understanding of the game, and leadership on the field. By my sophomore year, I earned the role of JV Captain, taking on responsibilities both in gameplay and in supporting teammates, helping build a competitive and positive team culture while continuing Columbia’s legacy in the sport.
